Firidun's story

Firidun is a 30-year-old refugee. He is married with a daughter and two sons. The family has lived in an IDP (internally displaced persons) settlement for a long time and the parents try to provide their children a bright future and education. The mother of the family earns money working as a teacher and Firidun is a gardener. He raises seasonal vegetables and greens in the backyard and sells them. He earns 200 AZN monthly and this is the main source of income for the poor family. Firidun has sold his harvest next to his house in a small grocery for 4 years and local people attend it very often. They know that Firudin sells quality and fresh produce. Though he loves gardening very much, the income from the grocery doesn't cover the family’s demands. Firudin applied for a 1,200 AZN loan in order to purchase a small parcel of land for more vegetables and fruits. He wants to make a high income and help his children live a normal life, as it was before they became refugees.
