Nancy Adelina's story
Nancy is a 22 year old woman who is a married housewife and farmer. From a young age, her parents taught her how to work the land and grow coffee, corn and beans. She is the mother of one young son. Nancy has a lot of experience because she has dedicated herself to growing coffee with her husband for many years. In the region that they live in, growing coffee is easy since the ground is fertile, and the climate lends itself to growing coffee. The land that her and her husband grow their coffee on is their own since they inherited it from her father. It is located 8 kilometers from their home, and they travel there on a motorcycle. Her husband and her parents are also involved in caring for the crops. She is seeking a loan from the Comixmul cooperative which she will use to provide better technical care to her coffee crops and her nursery where she plans on planting additional crops. This care includes clearing the land, fertilizing the crops, applying manure, and other procedures which will produce a better harvest. Her plans are to expand her coffee plantation by increasing her crops by 60% so that in the next season, she will have better results than what she currently has. She also wants to continue growing so that she can improve her earnings and help her son in his studies and other needs.
