A loan helped to repair her sheep stall.

Safya's story

Safya is a 53-year-old refugee. She is married, and she has a daughter and two sons. They live in an IDP settlement. Her husband is a laborer and he works all day long in order to provide money for their family. Their main income comes from livestock. Safya breeds sheep and sells the meat and wool. Breeding livestock has expanded in Azerbaijan because sheep meat and wool is in high demand. People use wool to make warm coats, jackets, socks, gloves and blankets. Safya has been breeding sheep for 30 years and she has good skills in this area. She keeps them in a small open stall that cannot protect them from bad weather. This causes low productivity, so she applied for a 1,500 AZN loan in order to repair the sheep stall.
