Nanuli's story

Nanuli is a 60-year-old house-keeper from the Tskaltubo district. She has a five member family and the significant source of income is only from pensions. It is really hardly enough to cover even their basic needs. The family belongs to the subsistence poor category, as they have no source of income and live in under poverty. According to above-mentioned situation, Nanuli lacks access to capital markets and financial institutions to obtain credit for starting a business. As these institutions require stable income and business experience. The Start Up program created by Kiva and Credo enabled Nanuli to get a loan of 2,000 GEL and start her trading business. She plans to purchase stocks of fruits and vegetables at wholesale prices and sell at increased prices at the local market. She will have her own counter and will sell fresh products every day. The loan will greatly assist Nanuli and she will be able to improve her economic situation and give her family a better lifestyle. She relies on the goodwill of lenders.
