Bijay Laxmi Shg Group's story

Indra is a 47-year-old lady and has three children. She lives in a small village in Koraput district, Odisha, India with her husband and her children. She owns and manages a "Chaat stall" (Indian spicy and sour street food). She roams around the village and in the nearby market place. From this activity, she earns 3,000 INR per month, which is too little to cover her total family expenses so she wants to expand her business and make more money. Indra, along with her group, is requesting a loan of 150,000 INR. She will use her portion to buy ingredients like wheat flour, grams, lentils, sauces, spices, vegetables, etc. for making "chaat". With this investment, she will expand her business so that she can generate more income and improve the quality of life for herself and her family. She is requesting the loan in a group of 10 members, all of whom are women and live in the same community. They named their group Bijay Laxmi Self Help Group, situated in the Koraput district of Odisha, India.
