Huong's Group's story
Huong, a hardworking 32-year-old woman, lives in the small village of Dong Anh, in a rural area of Ha Noi. She has two sons, who are currently studying at secondary school and primary school. Huong is an industrial worker, and her husband repairs bicycles to earn a living. Their family earns a monthly income of VND 9,000,000. Huong has participated in SEDA’s credit program since 2011. In her last loan, she borrowed VND 8,502,000 and repaid on time. She is now requesting a loan of VND 10,246,000 to buy more tools for her bicycle-repairing store. She wishes to earn more money to buy needed furniture for her house and raise her children well. There are four other members in Huong’s group: • Mai, a hairdresser, 37 years old, is the mother of two. She is requesting a loan of 7,630,000 to buy new tools for her hair shop. • Phuoc, a farmer, 34 years old, has two children. She is requesting a loan of VND 8,502,000 to raise pigs. • Dung, a worker, is 27 years old. She has two children. She wants to borrow 9,374,000 to buy a motorbike. • Ha is 44 years old. She is the mother of two children. She wants to borrow VND 5,014,000 to buy materials to make cakes and resell them at the market.
