A loan helped to buy farming supplies to grow corn and beans.
María Cristina's story
María is 69 years old. She studied up until the 3rd grade because her parents didn't have the financial resources to provide her with the opportunity to continue studying and also because the school was too far from home. She has 6 children who already have their own families. Her husband passed away years ago, so María only lives with her granddaughter who is 14 years old. From an early age, María has worked in agriculture since her parents were farmers and they had corn, bean, and sorghum crops. María currently grows corn and beans and to do so, she receives help from two of her children and her grandchildren. The place where she grows her crops is about 1 km from her house and she gets there by foot. The loan will be used to purchase farming supplies to grow corn and beans so she can secure these grains for food next year. María dreams about having a better house, since she currently lives in a wattle and daub house and it is damaged. She would also like to raise chickens.
