Juana's story

The streets of Suchitepéquez are witness to the most pleasant colors drenched in the traditional blouses, skirts and sashes. It is impossible that any tourist would not admire this product, pause, and make a good purchase of it. It is the work that Juana does, who is 42 years old and single with four children for whom she determined to fight for the life and open new doors toward the future. The first two children already have their own families, and the last two are excellent students in the community school. The work that she undertakes is making traditional güipiles (woven tops), cortes (woven skirts) and sashes. She has been doing this work for 15 years; she has been exerting a lot of effort to be able to produce work of the best quality and a variety of styles to be able to attract more customers to have a better income to improve the living conditions of her family. The respective use that she will give the loan is to purchase raw materials such as different colors of thread and other supplies that she needs to carry out her work to be able to have an income. One of Juana's great aspirations is to see her children become professionals in different fields of work and to expand her business more to have more income.
