Benkadi 2 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for fertilizer, herbicides, and plowing.

Benkadi 2 Group's story

The six members of the group “BENKADI 2” are married women, who average 42 years of age and six children each, living for the most part in traditional families in MISSASSO, a village in Commune de KOLOKOBA, in Cercle de SIKASSO (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali.) The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their farm work during the rainy season. They are on their seventh loan with the institution. The previous loans were indeed paid back. The crop grown is peanuts, as is the case with Ms. SIGUITIO (standing first from the left in the photo of this women’s group BENKADI 2). With her loan, she intends to purchase two 50-kg sacks of fertilizer and a container of herbicide and to pay the cost of plowing to maintain 0.5 hectare. After the harvest, the produce is sold to a customer base composed of men and women paying with cash or credit in the village and in SIKASSO. She plans on making an average profit of 74,000 francs CFA per planting. This profit will enable her to pay back her loan with interest and also to help out her husband in covering day-to-day family expenses.
