Sartawi Jalsuri Group's story
The Communal Bank “SARTAWI JALSURI” will begin its fifth loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Cascada central office. The group consists of 9 members and is led by a Board of Directors where Matilde is the President. The members of this communal bank engage in different businesses such as selling cheese, auto body repair and painting shop, buying livestock, and selling milk. The loan they are taking out will benefit small microenterprises where Matilde is a member. She says that she joined Pro Mujer five years ago after receiving an invitation from a member who visited her at her house. Currently she has a dairy business. She gained knowledge about this business by noticing that this product was sold widely in her community and she began with four cows. The loan she will receive is to increase capital, purchasing forage at wholesale in her community which will then be given to her cattle to have a good production. Working in this manner enables her to generate income to support her family as she is married and has one child. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she said that she likes the loan and the health services that the institution offers.
