A loan helped to maintain her banana trees.
Caserio Yoxaja 2 Group's story
There is no shortage of enterprising women in Guatemala, the country of eternal spring, where women are an important part of the work environment. This is the case with Francisca, who is 30 years old and has three children who are students in the community school. (She is the one in a purple blouse who is first, from right to left.) The activity that Francisca carries out with such pride is banana production in the fertile fields of her community. She has been doing this work for twenty years and it generates a fair amount of money for her family's finances; it is the legacy her father was able to leave her so that she would have a better quality of life in the future. Francisca will put to use the loan she is requesting by maintaining her banana trees so that they will produce their fruit, which will be taken to the community markets to be sold. A group of women decided to join together with Francisca in order to maximize the benefits of the land in their community, as it is full of life for producing any type of agricultural products. Francisca's dream is to plant more banana trees on the fertile lands that she has; she wants to support the environment in this way, and at the same time, reap a financial benefit for her family so that they can become professionals in the future.
