A loan helped to purchase new gym equipment to help make improvements to his gym.
Ernesto Alonso's story
Ernesto believes there is more to joining a gym than signing a contract and making monthly payments. He tells his clients they are not just a number, but a part of a fitness family. At the age of 21, he is now the owner of Mayhem Fitness — a cross-training, CrossFit gym in El Paso, Texas. He prides himself on offering his clients affordable prices, a balanced fitness program and nutritional structure. “I have been working at fitness clubs since I was 14,” Ernesto said. “It has always been a dream of mine to open my own business and now that dream has become a reality.” After being open for only three months, Mayhem Fitness has accumulated 100 members. Fitness assessments, customized diet plans based on body type and measurements, and a regimented training program are all a part of his fitness package. Mayhem Fitness is a gym that allows members to gain strength from each other, while offering a friendly, supportive environment. Ernesto shares that his clients are an inspiration to him every day. “We had clients who in the beginning were not able to finish four rounds of fitness and would need to stop half-way through the first round,” Ernesto said. “It is such an inspiration to see those same clients finish four rounds without hesitation." He came to Accion Texas Inc. for a loan to purchase new gym equipment and to make improvements to his gym such as installing new shelves and racks to hang barbells, towels and other gym equipment. Ernesto is grateful for the opportunity to see his vision unfold and to watch as clients transform into healthier versions of themselves. “To see people change their lives all because of a vision I had makes me proud,” Ernesto said.
