Maria Teresa's story
Maria Teresa is a Sari-sari (variety) store owner from Baybay, Leyte. She is 52 years old and married with five children, ages 10 to 31. Two of her children are still attending school. While her husband works in Manila as a driver, it is not easy for her to look after her children alone. In spite of that she continues doing business through her small store. A few months back, it was badly hit by the typhoon Yolanda. She is asking for a loan to buy chips, candies, cooking oil, condiments, toiletries, coffee and milk, and to repair her store. She is optimistic with what the future can bring with the help of the loan. In the future, she hopes to have better business profits and to make her store bigger.
