Tamari's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to purchase calves and start a husbandry business.
Tamari is 44 years old from the small village of Gardabani district. She lives with her husband, two sons and parents-in-law. Her parents-in-law are provided with the retirement pension. Her sons go to the local school. She graduated from pedagogical college and works as teacher at the local public school. Unfortunately a teacher’s salary is not enough to make ends meet for a family. In the region there is a high unemployment rate, but self-employment helps inhabitants to make a living. So, she decided to start a husbandry trading business with the loan but the local credit providers usually demand experience and some stable income from the borrowers. Tamari’s credit requests were rejected several times, as she doesn’t satisfied their requirements. She received the credit in the framework of a joint initiative of Kiva and Credo, the so-called Startup Program that gives rural poor people the chance to start or re-start businesses. With the loan of 3700 GEL, she will purchase calves, raise them and start a husbandry business.
