Maarifa Group's story
Ramadhani is a married father of three sons and one daughter (two in school and the rest grown). He is in his mid-forties and has been a businessman for 10 years. He runs a barbershop, a grocery store selling rice, sugar, beans, baking and maize flour etc., and also manages a food business selling chips with meat fried in pieces. He is so happy with Kiva's support because now he can pay his children's school fees and household costs. He believes that one day he will be a successfully businessman. He normally works from 6 a.m. to midnight every working day. Ramadhani is requesting his 13th loan through Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous credits, which he repaid, to improve his businesses. He bought food inventory, a refrigerator and radio, and a television set for his barbershop. He received profits which he used to build a house with electricity. He covered school fees and household expenses. Ramadhani dreams to grow his businesses and become better off in life. With his new loan request, he will replenish his grocery store with rice, beans, sugar, baking flour, maize flour, etc. He will share this loan with his loan group Maarifa which consists of five members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
