Kadiatou's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock up on peanuts to process into peanut butter to be sold by the pail.

Kadiatou's Group's story

The group was created on May 7, 2009, when the ’banc villageois’ was inaugurated. The women of the group were able to acquire solid experience in the program after ten loan cycles, being about five years of communal living. The group members live in the same village and are guided by mutual assistance and support. They are very active in commerce and in growing staple foods during the rainy season. Ms. Kadiatou (sitting at the right with a hand raised) is the featured borrower of the group. She is 36 years old, married, and a very energetic woman. She figured out how to grow her business over the cycles. She is active in producing and selling peanut butter. It is a highly profitable business in the area. To do this, she purchases unshelled peanuts by the 50-kg sack most often at the international weekly market in the sub-region. Next she does her processing work, which she has mastered wonderfully. With her new loan, she plans on stocking up with a quantity of two 50-kg sacks [of peanuts] for processing and selling by the pail in 20-kg and 5-kg sizes. The returns will enable her in part to develop her ability to finance herself by bolstering her savings, as well as to do more to help improve her family’s living conditions.
