A loan helped to expand her shop to a wholesale shop.

Justina's story

34-year-old Justina lives with her husband and two children in the Morogoro district, Tanzania. Since she likes supporting young people, Justina dedicates two and a half hours of her time each week to work with the youth in her village. To do this, she organizes debates and discussion forums where the youth exchange their ideas and learn from one another. To support her family, Justina is a businesswoman who owns a shop selling assorted beverages. She purchases her stock from a town 128 Km (80 miles) from her home and earns a profit since she is the sole distributor of beverages in her village. She uses the profits she makes to support her husband with household expenses and to pay for her children’s school fees. Justina is requesting a Kiva loan in order to expand her business to a wholesale shop, which will enable her to supply small retailers with beverages at a reasonable price. With the additional profits, Justina will hire a shop assistant and improve the well-being of her family.
