A loan helped to buy wool wholesale.

Buena Amistad Group's story

The Buena Amistad [Close Friendship] communal bank will begin its first loan cycle at Pro Mujer as part of the Centro Focal de Panamericana [Panamerican Regional Center]. It is made up of eight members and lead by a board of directors where Teresa is the president. The businesses which the members of the communal bank carry on with are varied. Amongst them are: sale of sweets, sale of condiments, sale of juices, sale of slippers, sale of books, woven macramé, sale of CDs and the sale of sweatshirts. The loan will benefit micro businesses where Teresa is a member. She has been a part of Pro Mujer for ten years, joining at the invitation of a promotional campaign by the institution. She currently has a business weaving macramé garments. She launched this business several years ago with her friends who work with the same techniques in their businesses. The loan she will now take out is to augment her capital (purchase of wool wholesale) which she will acquire from the wholesale vendors in the city of El Alto. After processing it she will sell it from her vendors stall. This type of work allows her to generate income to support her family since she has two children and lives with her partner. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she responds that she likes the health center services which the institution offers.
