Dragón De Oro Group's story
The "Dragon de Oro" (Golden Dragon) lending group is entering it's 25th cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Exaltación regional office. The group is comprised of 10 members, and it is led by a board of directors of which Sandra is the treasurer. The members of the communal bank are involved in a variety of businesses that include: selling quilts, sewing jackets, sewing hats, selling shirts, selling underwear, selling socks, selling sweaters, sewing pants, sewing coveralls and sewing jackets. The loan that they are requesting will benefit the small businesses of the group in which Sandra is a member. She indicates that she joined Pro Mujer a year ago after being invited by a friend who is a client of the institution. Currently, she has a business selling quilts. She states that she started this business five years ago when she learned the trade by observing her friend in her business. The loan that she is now requesting will be used to increase her capital by purchasing a sewing machine. She will purchase the machine from one of the wholesalers in the city of El Alto. She will then install it in her workshop. This form of work allows her to earn an income to support her family since she lives with her partner and has two children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she enjoys the training offered by the institution. One of the members is not shown in the picture because she was at the doctor's office.
