Tanya's story

Tanya is a widow from Marts village of Lori region. She lives there with her parents, brother, sister, and two daughters. Tanya's large family has been engaged in animal husbandry for five years already. They keep cattle, pigs, and hens. The family also owns an orchard and grows various types of fruits there. Tanya now wants to expand her family's agribusiness by making some investments. She has applied for a loan of USD 1,500 to purchase five calves. As this is Tanya's first loan, it has been approved within the framework of the new joint initiative between Kiva and SEF. The first-chance loan program provides loans to people who did not have access to credit products in the past because they have no credit history.
