Maria's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy new equipment, pay worker’s comp insurance and produce marketing materials.

Maria's story

Maria's business, Mayan Commercial Cleaning, is continuing to thrive since receiving her first Kiva loan last year. Mayan Cleaning Services was built out of necessity during the economic downturn, when Maria watched with a heavy heart as several members of her family were laid off from their jobs and then were unable to find new work. She knew that her family had experience in custodial services, so she started the business to provide an additional income stream for her family. Maria will use her second Kiva loan to buy new equipment, such as a trailer to transport her commercial carpet cleaner purchased with her first loan. She will also use the money to pay worker’s comp insurance, as well as for marketing materials like flyers and pamphlets. As a fully family run business, Maria loves how her venture has served to rally her family around a unified purpose during the recent economic downturn. She hopes to continue building her business to provide a lasting legacy that her children can be proud of.
