A loan helped To purchase a semoir.
Mabaye is fifty-one years old and is married with five children. Mabaye lives in Marako village in southern Mali. He is a farmer and grows corn, millet, okra, peanuts, beans, peppers, and cucumbers. With a loan from Kiva, Mabaye will be able to buy a semoir. A semoir is a piece of farm equipment, which plants seed and fertilizer following a micro-dosing method. Through using the semoir, which follows this modern agricultural method, Mabaye will be able to increase his harvest and decrease the amount of time it takes him to plant his field. He is hopeful that with the semoir, he will be able to increase his family’s food security.
