Al- Noras Group's story

This group is called Al- Noras. It consists of four women from Hodeidah, Yemen. They applied for a loan of 160,000 YER from AMB. This is 28-year-old Zahra. She is a married woman with four children. She is an uneducated woman, but very active and dynamic. In 2010, Zahra established her sambusa (traditional food) business. She began her business because she didn't attend school because her parents didn't value girls' education. Her mother only introduced her to a business. When she got married, her husband gave her some amount of money to start the business. Unfortunately, this business is not enough to cover all the expenses of the family. Zahra deiced to sell perfumes and incense besides this business. She works seven days a week and fifteen hours a day. Zahra would like a loan in the amount of 40,000 YER from AMB. She requires a loan in order to buy flour, sugar, milk, and other materials to make lot of sambusa and to purchase various kinds of perfumes and incense to sell for her customers. In the future, Zahra hopes to open a small shop. The loan will help her to generate more income and improve her family's standard of living.
