Fatou's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase eggplant, peanut butter, and refined oil to resell in the village.

Fatou's Group's story

This group was set up on October 18, 2012 and carries the name of the village where it is housed. Within the group are women who, in addition to ties of solidarity and kinship uniting them, just finished four loan cycles, which have further strengthened these ties. The women have as their main work small-scale commerce along with rainy-season farming. Ms. Fatou (standing at the far right with her hand raised) is the featured borrower of the group. She is 52 years old and a married mother of one boy. She is active in selling fresh vegetables (carrots, cabbage, turnips, …) and a variety of other condiments that she purchases at the weekly market. Then she sells the good at the retail level in the village. With her new loan, she intends to purchase 2 baskets of eggplant, 2 pails of peanut butter at 24,000 francs CFA, and a 20-liter container of refined oil at 15,000 francs to resell in the village. Her profits will be used to bolster her savings and to improve her family’s living conditions regarding nourishment and healthcare.
