Maa Tarini Group's story
Bimala is the leader of a group who lives in BBC Pada of Bhawanipatna in the Kalahandi district of Odisha, India. She is a married woman who is 50 years old. She has a small family comprised of four members: her husband and two sons. The member standing second from left with her hand raised in the front line is Bimala. She has an electrical shop where her sons repair electrical equipment like coolers, refrigerators, and fans as well as motor binding of water pumps. They also sell small gas stoves. The shop was originally started by Bimala’s husband in 1995 and now her sons are running it successfully. The family income is about Rs 9,700 per month but it is not at all sufficient to meet even the necessary expenses. So she formed a group of 10 members in her locality and applied for a loan from Mahashakti. It is their first cycle loan. Bimala will purchase solar lights, electrical fans, iron, bulbs and other electrical materials as well as small gas stoves for the growth of her business. She has a cherished dream of being a wholesaler of electrical equipment in her locality. The other nine members are doing vegetable vending, running a hotel, tailoring, running a fancy shop, mobile repairing, a Tiffin stall, a Tea stall, and a grocery shop.
