Jerome's story

Jerome is 36 years old and lives in the town of Fortportal in the Fortportal region of Uganda. He is married and has one child who is currently in school. For the past 5 years, Jerome has been working hard to manage his transportation business, which deals in the transportation of people. To help expand his business, Jerome has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used for car repair, and will help Jerome to generate greater profits and boost the business. He hopes that in the future he will be able to buy a second car. Jerome is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Jerome who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans. "
