Sabali 2 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fertilizers and weedkillers, and pay for labor.

Sabali 2 Group's story

The ten members of the Sabali 2 group are married women, who average 32 years of age and who have an average of two children each. The majority of them live in traditional families in Kontabougou in the Sikasso circle (Mali's third administrative region). They collaborate with the microfinance institution, Soro Yiriwaso, so that they can carry out their farming activities successfully during the winter season. They are on their third seasonal loan from Soro Yiriwaso and the previous loans have been repaid in full. Within the Sabali 2 group, Mafoune, who is standing second from the left in the photo, grows groundnut. With her loan she is planning to buy one 50 kilo sack of fertiliser and one container of weedkiller; she will also pay the labor costs for maintaining 0.5 hectares of land. After the harvest, the produce is sold in the village and in Sikasso to a customer base made up of men and women, for cash and on credit. She expects to make an average profit of 63,000FCFA per season. This profit will enable her to repay her loan and to help her husband with the family's daily outgoings.
