Betty Elizabeth's story

Betty is a 25-year-old young woman; she is a single mother from a remote community in northern Nicaragua. She relies on a small 1.4-hectare coffee farm. Even at her young age, she is an enterprising woman who, thinking of the future of her young son, has worked for 5 years in coffee farming. Betty confronts the challenges that face any woman in the countryside: the lack of funds to invest and improve the development of her farm. However, her enthusiasm to get ahead and her love for her little one have been the motor that drives her to grow each day. For this season, she is requesting a loan for the purchase of fertilizer and compost that will let her increase the productivity of her coffee. This will also increase her income, which will help her ensure that she can support her son. This visionary woman dreams of increasing the size of her small farm and producing high quality coffee. For this reason, she makes an effort all day long to increase her income and improve her and her son's living situation.
