Kollitas Group's story
The "Kollitas" community group is on its eighth loan with Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Adela focal center. It is made up of nine members and is run by a board of directors, of which Giovana is the secretary. The members have various businesses, including: neighborhood store, jewelry and cosmetic sales, mechanic's assistant, plaster artisan, toy sales, perfume sales by catalog, and purchase and sale of detergent. The loan that they are taking out will benefit small businesses like Giovana's. She tells us that she joined Pro Mujer two years ago when a friend, who is a member of the institution, invited her. She currently has a clothing sales business. She tells us that she began this business along with her first business, a neighborhood store, and decided to dedicate herself to clothing sales after a while since it provided better income. The loan that she is taking out is to increase capital (purchase clothing in bulk). She will purchase the clothing at the markets in the city of La Paz and later sell them on foot (without a set location) in the markets in the city of El Alto. This job allows her to generate income to support her family, since she is married and has three children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the health focus that the institution offers. The member is not present in the photograph because she was at a doctor's appointment.
