Kusimuka Kwemadzimai Group's story
Meet Memory. She is the beautiful lady in the centre with spectacles and a black scarf. She is a married mother of two who has been rearing poultry for the past 2 years. She is 42 years old and belongs to Kusimuka Kwemadzimai group (translated as women’s progress group). The group is based on church and neighbourhood ties and it has a rotating savings club, something that they have learnt from the Thrive training programme. Memory’s poultry business has been growing and a loan to her and her group will help her extend her fowl run to a bigger capacity and enable her to meet her growing demand. Memory and her group hope to grow their small businesses and earn more income to support their families since most of their husbands are not employed. These women represent an example to the community of how little can be much if it is combined with hard work and commitment.
