Espérance Group's story
Barole has been a determined retailer for seven years now, and is a member of the business group 'Espérance' (Hope). She is 54 years old, married and mother to eleven children, of whom six are studying and five are already married. She sells second-hand shoes at a market in the centre of town. Barole has requested this loan from the field partner, Hekima, in order to expand her business. She plans to use her loan to buy three bags of second-hand shoes. Her husband has retired from his job in public administration, she started her business with money provided by him. In the future, Barole would like to continue to educate and feed her children. She is grateful to Hekima for choosing to work with women entrepreneurs who are excluded from the classic banking system, and for offering unsecured loans. This is particularly important during this period following the conflict in the east of the country.
