Maa Santoshi Shg Group's story
Sakhi is in her first loan cycle with "Maa Santoshi SHG" self-help group through People's Forum. In the picture, the lady standing with her hand raised is Sakhi. She likes this type of funding because it allows her to grow her businesses. Sakhi is 30 years old and married. She has two children. Her husband is also in business. He works in mobile village markets on market days. Sakhi makes a living raising and then selling goats to the local butchers in the nearby market. She has been doing this business for the last six years. She spends most of her time taking care of her business but she also raises chickens to help her husband with the household expenses. She will use the loan to buy more goats, goat kids and feed. Her goal is to have a bigger goat business. All the members of this group are women and all are sharing a common goal to give a better life to their children. All the group members live in a small village in Odisha, India, and all are engaged in different activities. On behalf of this group, Sakhi says, "We are very grateful to Kiva and its lenders for giving us this opportunity to grow."
