Amigas De Kalaque Group's story

The community bank group "Amigas de Kalaque" ["Friends from Kalaque"] begins its first cycle at ProMujer at the regional center of Achacachi. The group is composed of eight members and is headed by a board of which Sonia is the President. The members of this community association have businesses that are varied and include fishing, buying and selling cattle, selling milk, and weaving blankets. The loan is a great help to micro-entrepreneurs like Sonia. She reports that this is her first time taking out a loan with ProMujer. She entered on the invitation of a consultant who visited her home. Today she has a fishing business and weaves blankets. She reports that she has been in business for several years, since she used to be involved in a family business and once she was married she started an independent one. The loan will bring a capital increase for the purchase of fishing nets that she will buy in the markets in the city of El Alto and brought back to her fishing space. Her work will allow her to generate resources to support her family as she is married and has three children. When asked what she likes about ProMujer, Sonia replies that she likes the training offered by the institution.
