Amka Group's story
Hekima's client, Maria, aged 61, married and a mother of seven children, all enrolled in school, has been a hardworking businesswoman for 25 years. This client is a member of a businesswomen's group called Amka. She sells foodstuffs, displaying her merchandise in a small market on the outskirts of the city. She is asking Hekima for a loan to grow her business. She wants to buy two sacks of manioc flour, two of maize, etc. She started up her business with funds she got from her friends. Her husband is jobless. In the future, she hopes to finish her house and keep her children in school and feed them. She thanks Hekima for its support given to women entrepreneurs who do not have access to banking services, by making loans to them during this post-conflict period of shortage in the eastern region of the country.
