A loan helped to buy supplies in greater volume for her hairdressing business.

Sandra's story

Sandra, age 30, has a hairdresser’s shop that is located in a neighborhood close to a beach. The sun, the warm breeze, and the sea make you feel the flavor of the Caribbean Columbian, which is happy and extroverted. She started her business experience two years ago when she cut hair at home for relatives, neighbors, and friends. They were, little by little, referring other customers to her. That is how her business was growing. Now, her customers call her on the phone, and Sandra schedules her service at the customer’s house. Her goal is to adapt the infrastructure in a way that will help impact her income more. As she is well-known in the area, she will do this so that she does not have to move around as she usually does. With this she will get many more customers. She is currently applying for a Kiva loan to buy supplies in greater volume for her hairdressing business. She will buy things like dyes, rinses, shampoo, and general hair products. Her biggest challenge is managing to have new customers day to day. Her big dream, and that of her husband, is to buy her own house in order to be happy with him and their 17 year old daughter.
