Dembagnouma Group's story
The four members of the Dembagnouma group are married women of an average age of 36 years and with on average, four children. Most of them live in traditional families in Sanoubougou l, one of the popular quarters of Sikasso in the third administrative region of Mali. This is their 11th solidarity loan with the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution in order to satisfy the needs of their clientele. Mrs. Aminata, who is sitting first on the right in this photo of the women of the Dembagnouma group, sells condiments. With her loan she plans to buy large quantities of condiments (tomatoes, onions, garlic) in Sikasso. She sells her products retail at the market in Sanoubougou to her female customers for cash or for credit. She plans to make an average monthly profit of 55 000 francs CFA, part of which she will use to repay the loan and the interests, and the remainder of which she will save.
