María Asuncion's story
The Crédito Sol Naciente group meets every 15 days in the San Pedro neighborhood in the city of Manta. The city is known for its beautiful beaches that are visited a lot during every season of the year. The beaches are frequented by national tourists and tourists from abroad. The city is also known for being one of the most important ports in the country and in America. It is located on the banks of the Pacific. This is where María, age 54, lives. She is married, and they have four grown children. One daughter still lives at home with them. Her husband is a taxi driver. María is a woman who has always liked working in order to have her own income and for the good of her family. She is in charge of a bar in a recreational center in the city. The place is very busy, especially on the week-ends. This is where she prepares all types of snacks and food for her customers to choose from. One of her daughters works with her, and she pays her for her work. She has been in this business for six years. It is going very well for her, and she gets more and more customers. She will use the loan to buy rice, meat, fish, fruit, and other ingredients to make the food. She has been in the communal bank since it began. She likes it for the benefits she gets from the institution. Her dream is to get ahead with her business.
