Anar's story

Anar, 25, is a refugee. He is married and has a daughter and a son. His wife is a housekeeper and educates children. The family lives in a settlement for internally displaced persons. Anar has been raising seasonal fruits and selling them at a local bazaar for three years. This is the main source of the family’s income. It brings him 150 Azerbaijani New Manat (AZN) monthly, but he gets additional earnings by working as a labourer in his free time. Refugees from Anar’s region have a high demand for fresh fruits and vegetables. They use fruits to prepare delicious jams for tea and vegetables to cook tasty dishes. They frequent Anar’s grocery stall very often because his fruits are always fresh and tasty. After strong winds, Anar’s garden was destroyed and polluted, and many trees were damaged. Anar has applied for a loan of 1,100 AZN to buy fertilizers and garden tools and to rebuild his garden. He needs to increase his income to provide his children with a bright future and a good education.
