Rajab's story

Rajab is 49 years old and lives in the town of Kachwamba in the Fortportal region of Uganda. He is married and has five children who are all currently in school. For the past 10 years, Rajab has been working hard to manage his boutique, which sells men's outfits. To help expand his business, Rajab has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more shirts, trousers, and neckties and will help Rajab to generate greater profits and increase the capital. Rajab hopes that in the future he will be able to acquire more capital. Rajab is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Rajab, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
