Norma De Jesus's story
Norma de Jesús is an entrepreneurial woman with hopes of getting ahead. At 48-years-old, she shares her home with her husband. Three of her four children live at home and go to school. Her eldest child is grown and lives outside the home. Norma de Jesús learned the farming routine and profession with her father. When she was very young, she helped him with various activities that were being developed in the fields. Because of financial struggles and limited resources in her family, she was not able to go to school. Thankfully, her parents were able to teach her to work and make an honest living. She and her husband own the crops thanks to an inheritance from her father. The are located 100 meters from their house and they get there by walking. She dreams of seeing her children with a better future; one with better opportunities and living conditions so they can support and head their households. In order to avoid relying on a single activity for their income and to produce a better product, they are diversifying their coffee plants and expanding by purchasing another plot of land. This way they will strengthen their legacy for their children. For this reason, she is applying for funds that will improve her coffee plants by giving them the attention and maintenance needed to have an excellent harvest. At the end of the season, she hopes to be well-supported to fulfill her goals and dreams in life.
