Las Solidarias Group's story

The "Las Solidarias" village bank will begin its ninth cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the field office of Villa Exaltación. It is made up of ten members and is directed by a board, where Emma is the treasurer. The businesses that the members of the communal bank carry out are varied, among them are: sale of underwear, sewing of clothes, sale of CDs, hardware, butcher, sewing of clothing. The loan that they will take out will benefit small microenterprises where Emma is a member. She says that three years ago, she joined Pro Mujer, entering by the invitation of an aunt who is a member of the institution. Currently, she has a business selling lingerie. It's worth mentioning that she started this business with a little capital she had and started selling in the markets as a street vendor. The loan that she will take out now is for increasing capital (to buy lingerie in bulk) that she will acquire in the stores in the city of El Alto. Later, she will sell it in the markets. This form of work allows her to generate resources to maintain her family since she lives in a free union and has two children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes the training, the health area and the savings that the institution offers her.
