Mohamed's Group's story
Pictured above are teachers from a primary school in Koidu, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, based in Makeni, in northern Sierra Leone, to request a loan of 11,000,000 for the entire group. With the help of this loan, they will be able to buy or invest in things that their salaries alone aren't enough to invest in or buy. At the end of each month, these teachers repay SMT from their monthly salaries. Their school’s bursar is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayment on behalf of these teachers. Mohamed is the featured leader of this team of hard-working and dedicated school teachers. Mohamed is 49-years-old. He is a native of Bo city in southern Sierra Leone. He is married and has three children. Mohamed has been in the teaching profession for 12 years now. He has requested this loan in order to buy house building materials like cement, iron corrugated zinc, etc. for the construction of a dwelling house for his family.
