Sakeena's story

Sakeena is a 41-year-old married woman and the mother of three children. She makes Gol Gappay, a popular street food dish in Pakistan. It consists of a round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water, chili, potato, and chickpeas. She is expert in making it and is earning enough to lead a decent life with the support of her husband. The man shown in the photo is Sakeena’s husband. Her husband assists her in selling door-to-door and in a local market. They serve well in their community. Currently, Sakeena requested a loan of PKR 40,000 to buy stock of ingredients such as stock of chickpeas, spices, baking soda and graham flour in a large quantity to increase their sales. She wishes to spend a part of her profits on her children’s education and well-being.
