Fausto Francisco's story
Fausto is a small coffee producer in the Jinotega region of Nicaragua. His farm is 28.3 hectares, of which 10.6 are coffee. His vision is to double the coffee area of his farm gradually, so he is managing his resources accordingly, taking advantage of the favorable conditions that his farm has for this line of production. In recent years, Don Fausto has managed to average a harvest of 350 quintales of pergamino coffee. For this year, he is asking for a loan to ensure the labor and the purchase of supplies and materials that allow him to keep pests and diseases under control in the areas that are currently sown with coffee. With the introduction of these activities, he will be able to ensure and improve production in the 2014-2015 cycle, and deal with the instability of the coffee market, which he has also faced by being certified under the Fairtrade stamp.
