Mayrelin Esther's story
Mayrelin Esther is a young architecture student. She is requesting a loan so she can cover her educational expenses. This is her story: “My name is Mayrelin Esther. I am 18 years old and I live in La Romana. My father works in a spare parts store and my mother has a small store. I decided to study architecture at Universidad Central Del Este (UCE) because I have felt attracted to this university degree since I was a little girl and, moreover, it is a dream that I want to make a reality in order to have a future as a good architect. As my parents cannot pay the fees for the degree, I am requesting a Kiva loan in order to pay my fees and purchase materials, since this degree requires me to do lots of projects and group work. I need help and without it I will not be able to study. My family, particularly my mother, really want me to finish my studies and graduate, and I would like to fulfil this dream. I am an excellent student with an average of 92% at high school, and I am going to put a lot of dedication and effort into my studies in order to graduate with honours, help my parents financially, and contribute something to my country as a professional ready to help and offer knowledge."
