Maria Angela's story

María is 54 years old, married, and lives with her two children (ages 11 and 15) in the neighborhood of La Floresta, which is part of the canton of Guaranda in Bolívar Province. She is a member of the Communal Bank “Los Emprendedores” (The Entrepreneurs), which is located 20 minutes away from the Cooperativa San Jose office that operates in Guaranda. The group includes 10 members who are from the same community. They engage in agriculture.

María is a farmer who grows corn and potatoes, but she also raises guinea pigs, sheep, and cows. She is requesting a loan in order to buy compost, fertilizers, and feed for her animals. Her purchases will be made in Guaranda. Her goal is to improve the sale of her animals and her production of potatoes. Her challenges include dealing with the weather and the pests that could attack her crops.

In her free time, María enjoys being with her children. The tradition she enjoys the most is Holy Week.
