Badeya Group's story

The members of the group BADEYA are married women, who average 29 years of age and four children each, all living in polygamous families in KOLONDIEBA, a prefecture in the 3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali. The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their work. They are on their first loan. Ms. MAMINE (second from the left in the photo) intends to use her loan to purchase 3 packets of condiments. She gets her supplies from KOLONDIEBA and makes her sales to a customer base composed of women paying with cash and sometimes credit, in KOLONDIEBA. She plans on making a monthly profit of 20,000 francs CFA that will enable her to pay back the loan and also to help out her husband in covering day-to-day expenses.
