José Gabriel's story

José is a vigorous and hardworking sixty-year-old man. He has been making shoes for forty years, and learned the trade from his mother, who always worked as a cobbler. After gaining all the knowledge and experience, he decided to start his own business and open his own shop. This was thirty years ago. Initially located in Bucaramanga, his shop started to grow, so it created a lot of jobs directly. However, due to issues beyond his control, he had to move it to a different city because he was being threatened and extorted by criminal organizations. Once he resettled in the new city, he went back to business and currently works with his wife and one employee from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. This has allowed him to generate enough income to support his four children and pay for their education. He is currently requesting the support of a loan in order to purchase wholesale materials like leather, glue, and shoe molds. This will allow him to increase production and to have a wider variety of shoes to offer his customers and appeal to their different tastes in style, which will give him a chance to increase his income. José says that his greatest desire is for his shop to become as reputable and well-established as it once was, having all the necessary equipment to make all types of shoes. He wants to offer new employment opportunities and give his family a better quality of life.
