Momela Group's story
Vidas is in her late 40s and is a widow with three children. One of her children is still at school and the other two have finished. Since 2002, Vidas has worked selling clothing and selling chickens door-to-door. She works from four in the morning through seven at night seven days a week and is able to make a very good monthly profit. She received three previous loans from Tujijenge Tanzania that she used to continue her clothing business and start selling local chicken. Vidas is happy with her loans and appreciates everyone who has supported her loan group. She used the profit from her loans to pay school fees and cover household expenses. Vidas is requesting a loan to buy fabrics and clothes to resell. She will share her loan with her loan group “Momela,” which has six members who will hold each other accountable for repaying the loan. Vidas dreams of providing a better education to her child who is still at school.
