Maria Jesus's story
María Jesús is 27 years old and a single mother of one child who is financially dependent on her. She attended school through Grade 6 and she farms vegetables like potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, cabbage, etc. She also grows basic grains like corn and beans. She learned this from her parents at a very young age as her family has been farmers for generations. The land she works is her own, thanks to an inheritance from her parents. She sells her product in the local market and through the different middlemen who come to the area. María Jesús is requesting a loan to invest in her potato crops, buying fertilizer and manure to strengthen the plants, their roots and the ground they are planted in. Her plans for the future are to expand her crops by planting more in order to increase her income. And she wants to continue planting but with more quality and quantity to offer to her clients.
